The release of SKSK third album was almost unnoticed to me until i seen it in the target. They have moved a long way from the After Dark EP of being a deep dark sound.
Review: New Maps Of Hell
Bad Religion's new record New Maps Of Hell is amazing. The songs have so much energy && the shows to promote the new record where some of the best ive ever been to.
Review: Shorebirds - S/T 7"
With a lineup featuring ex-members of Jawbreaker and Latterman, it would have taken a lot for me not to like this record. Fortunately, that isn't the case.
i started this second thread so we wouldn't have douche bags saying how the movies was "too indie" or have a whole bunch of people who have no room to talk, in my experience, saying how annoying juno's character was. and god bless the huge pictures you guys really made this thread great.
They did. Pictures = Funny
But honestly, I kinda have no urge to see this movie. It's out, I have time to see movies, but it's never the one I pick to see, and I go to the theater AT LEAST once a week. It's probably going to be a movie I'll wait till' its on DVD, pick it up and sit down and watch it, then dig through the extras.
I'm not avoiding the movie cause of some soundtrack, even if the movie has BAD songs, there is a good chance the songs fit, and if they fit the movie, I can dig it.
The Indie factor? I'm not sure. I'm not a big fan of art films (Ocean Aquatic, I <3 Huckabees, etc) so that is playing into my idea that I won't like this movie, but it still could surprise me.
I plan on dragging someone to see this fairly soon, I have a few days off this week (Thursday and Friday) and I wanna see Rambo and this I think. Nothing else tickles my fancy. Or I already saw it.
I'll report back to this thread at a later time.
I love artsy/indie films. Rushmore, Garden State, Virgin Suicides etc. I do not love pretentious bitchy girls who think a phrase like "honest to blog" is funny or try to sound like they're unique because they listen to the fucking stooges and name one of the most well known Dario Argento movies in existence.
Continue to fuck this bullshit.
Damn, vicious.
I think a well known doesn't make it invalid, but it does take away from it a bit. If you truly like the movie, I think it makes you research other things by the actors and such. It broadens your horizons.
16 year olds coming out of these artsy movies and saying they understand it? I don't think so. In some of these movies, there are things in their some College students don't get. I <3 the huckabees was about transcendentalism (something I knew before I watched the whole movie, I only saw the ending, then went and picked it up.) but without a human development class, I doubt I would have understood it, and I HIGHLY doubt a freshman in high school would understand it either.
I think there is a BIG thing in the "scene" now a days to like and understand these films even though they really don't. If you don't understand it, chances are you shouldn't like it. There are movies I watch and go, nope, don't get it, don't like it, and I move on. I hate when people falsely like movies. I don't know.
Watch movies, and enjoy them. Like what you like, for the reasons you like them. I will bash you if you like something like Navy Seals, however.
Did I say I was too cool for something popular? Do I project that at all? Have you read my posts? I talk about some of the biggest hype movies around (Cloverfield, Transformers, Dark Knight, Iron Man)
I saw this movie in the theater with an open mind and apparently I'm one of 2% of the population who doesn't think this "gem" is all its cracked up to be. This is a below average indie flick dude. Get over it.
But I must be a scenester who doesn't think this is cool enough. LOLZOMGROFL!!!!!!!!11111
it was character development, it did nothing more than establish what she listened to and watched and show a common bond between her and the adopting parent (male). but it's not like the stooges helped the growth of a baby. what did you expect her to do with her knowledge of the stooges?
If there was no name dropping going on in that piece of shit to try and seem "hip" or relevant then why even mention those groups at all? Those connections could have been just as easily been established without forcing such a "cool indie" twist on it.
I'm done with this. This movie is overrated and boring. End.
so wait, you started a second thread about a movie so there was a thread where people wouldn't talk negatively about it? did i miss something? that might be the dumbest idea ever. if people don't like something, they're going to continue to point out they don't like it in a thread about it, especially if it isn't the first thread. get over it. average movie. annoying. enjoyable at times. the moldy peaches are terrible. the dialogue was very, very unnatural (and i'm not talking about all the pointless namedroppings) but still funny. average. not everyone is going to come to this thread and gush about it.
also, i don't recall anybody saying the movie was 'too indie'. just that the references to indie culture were bizarre, out of place, and unnecessary.
so why do i have no say in if a chracter is annoying? her dialogue was made to make her look like the super witty, never phased by anything, 16 year old indy chick that doesn't exist in real life.
rushmore, virgin suicide, garden state are in no way "artsy". these are not art films. neither is juno.
i didn't hate this movie, but it is so grossly overrated.
Yeah, I thought this was pretty lame. Movies mentioned above like Rushmore had well developed characters with quirky (without being ridiculous) dialog. Juno had cardboard cutout characters that talked like they were teenage highschool aliens from planet retard. Dropping phrases like "homeskillet" and peppering in poorly executed pop culture references is both a sad attempt at emulating the style of movies like Rushmore and a clear pander to the 16 year old kids bound for art school that are going to think this movie is really neat and edgy.
And for the record, indie film means independent, it's not a goddamned genre as much as people want it to be.
im pretty sure this, much like how "indie" music is now, is actually considered a genre, as it tends to be greatly accepted by "indie" kids.
whatever, shit's wack
Continue to fuck this bullshit.
Yeah preach that shit my brother from another mother!
cept that part about Rushmore ... god i hate that movie!
I still have no desire to see this ill shit ... That michael cera dork fucking blows ... he can't act he just plays himself in everything... and he's annoying as fuck. Ellen Page is kinda cute but this is still no reason to go see the flick ... besides after seeing her in Hard Candy lookin like a lil boy i think I take back the cute comment.
this shit is a download just like superbad and the rest of these stupid movies. If i wanna waste loot in a theater I wanna see something cool .... like Cloverfield or AVPR
Juno is something i'd throw in the DVD player as i'm going to sleep.
I've been generally losing the urge to see/watch most movies these days. In general the plot is almost always cookie cutter
guy gets girl - something crazy/funny/scary happens - guy loses girl as a result - guy spends the rest of the movie trying to get girl back and sometimes this involves explosions and people dying - guy gets girl back
if it's not this it's generally guy meets girl - tons of crazy explosions and shenanigans - guy gets girl
I'm aware that I'm overgeneralizing like hell. I've just not found anything worthwhile in about 99% of movies in a while.
