The release of SKSK third album was almost unnoticed to me until i seen it in the target. They have moved a long way from the After Dark EP of being a deep dark sound.
Review: New Maps Of Hell
Bad Religion's new record New Maps Of Hell is amazing. The songs have so much energy && the shows to promote the new record where some of the best ive ever been to.
Review: Shorebirds - S/T 7"
With a lineup featuring ex-members of Jawbreaker and Latterman, it would have taken a lot for me not to like this record. Fortunately, that isn't the case.
How is he a 1 trick pony? All of his movies are written great, just pretty low budget other then like...Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerks 2. Mallrats was funny as hell...just, shitty shitty camera work and stuff, you could tell it's low budget.
Ok...maybe his comics aren't that great...i'll give ya that.
Jersey Girl did suck, but I mean...that movie doesn't count...nope...
Dogma was great. I think it was his biggest critically acclaimed movie to date, other then clerks. But I could be wrong about that.
All of his movies DO connect, so I can understand where you may not like it. To get one of them, you almost have to watch/know the rest of them.
To each their own I guess. I'm sure there are movies you like that i'm all like POO THAT SHIT BITCH.
I wanted to say it, but I wanted to argue other points too.
It is in the jersey story line.
IN ORDER OF CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER:
Mallrats
Clerks.
Chasing Amy
Dogma
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Clerks 2.
I know mallrats came out after clerks. but it takes place 1 day prior to the events in Clerks. So.
Nooooooooooo really?
I just through that in there so it didn't look like i was tossin him under the bus for 1 movie.
I really didnt like dogma but it was way better than jersey girl which most certainly does count.
I'm tellin you that dude can't do shit outside of his lil universe ...
haha, so you only don't like the fact that he sticks to his view askew universe? I think that's what I like about him. All of his movies interconnect...sorta like comics books...BUNG!
The cartoon series is fucking great. You ever take a listen to the commentary on that shit? Funny as hell.
Chasing Amy gives me a mind fuck everytime I watch it.
Dude, the commentary on the cartoon episodes is some of the funniest shit ever put to dvd. I've watched the actual cartoons like once and the commentaries like eight times.
Actually all of Kevin Smith's commentaries are pure gold. Even Jersey Girl is worth owning just for the commentary.
I'd love to see that dude put out a movie thats not in the J & SB universe and it be great! Seriously I want him to be able to be a decent writer and director and not a 1 trick hack. I just have my doubts.
Dudes comics are retarded ... everything he has written has started out good then went to hell about 1/2 way through . Daredevil, Green Arrow, Spiderman/Black Cat are 3 fine examples of that.
which kinda sucks considering he's a huge fanboy
I'm a huge fanboy too but hmmm yeah i dunno if i could write a good comic given a character like GA or Daredevil.
I am working on an idea for a movie though .... hopefully I can sell that to someone.
Thats not his only problem as far as comics go .... he can't write a decent ending ... the pacing is off ... and he loves to put religion into his comics ( example: Daredevil and GA )
You notice this best when you are reading his Daredevil compared to Bendis' . Even more so in GA when you go from his run to Brad Meltzer who in my opinion had THE best arc in that whole Green Arrow series.
